Security at the Münster Central Station: Alcohol and dangerous objects prohibited!
Hauptbahnhof Münster, 48143 Münster, Deutschland - This coming weekend, May 30th and 31st, the Federal Police Directorate of Sankt Augustin in the Münster Central Station is introducing a strict ban on dangerous objects, glass bottles and alcoholic beverages. This general order also applies to the Lengerich - Münster Hbf - Dülmen railway lines and all trains traveling there. The regulation will come into force on Saturday, May 30, 2025 at midnight and ends on Sunday, May 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. The aim is to increase the security in rail traffic and to avert potential dangers at urban events.
The measure is followed by a worrying development: since January of this year, 58 incidents have been registered at the Münster Central Station, which are associated with the carrying of weapons or dangerous objects as well as violent offenses under the influence of alcohol. The most recent incident occurred on May 27th when a 26-year-old shoplifter threatened two employees with a pointed object. In order to inform the visitors, posters are hung in the main train station that indicate the new bans. Further information is available on the Federal Police website.
