Safety for children on road traffic: Police go through!
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the police in the district of Kleve carried out a large -scale traffic safety campaign under the motto "Safe.mobil.leben" to promote the safety of children in road traffic. From 7:00 a.m. to the end of school, the presence of the police was particularly increased in schools and on the feeder paths. Speed measurements were carried out during this time and children were checked on bicycles, e-scooters or pedelecs. A total of 136 speed violations were found; In 118 cases, warning funds had to be paid and there were 18 administrative offenses. In addition, 16 drivers were held responsible for distraction, for example through mobile phone use.
The police warned the importance of responsible driving behavior, especially in school areas. Road users were asked to reduce the pace and to put their eyes on the street. Children who can often not correctly assess speeds require special protection. The officials pointed out that many “parent taxis” hinder the children's view when crossing the street, and also documented nine parking violations in the area of schools.
