Heavy rain meets Grevenbroich: fire brigade in continuous use!
Elsen, Deutschland - A wild heavy rain put the Grevenbroich fire brigade on Saturday evening (May 31)! Between 7:37 p.m. and 00:30 a.m., the brave emergency services had to deploy a total of 13 weather -related operations. Numerous emergency calls arrived in just a few minutes, while the fire brigade pumped flooded basement and streets empty and eliminated branches of roads and bike paths. Particularly dramatic: the Elsbacht tunnel and the dreaded “death curve” on Düsseldorfer Straße turned into raging waters and had to be blocked for hours!
But that wasn't everything! In parallel to the missions in Grevenbroich, the fire brigade even became active nationally. Between 11:45 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., the brave helpers of the Gustorf/Gindorf unit were deployed in Krefeld, where basement full of water also had to be cleared. And even on Sunday morning, the fire brigade was not calmer when it moved to Merkatorstrasse in Elsen around 9:50 a.m. to get to the bottom of a water problem in a elevator shaft. An unforgettable evening for the Grevenbroich fire brigade!
