Road safety for children: Police with large control in Osnabrück!
On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the Osnabrück police department carried out a cross -border traffic safety campaign under the motto "Safe.Mobil.leben - Kinder Auflich". This initiative aimed to improve the safety of children in road traffic through preventive measures and intensive controls. Over 280 vehicles were checked, and the police found 190 violations, including 23 speed violations near schools and kindergartens as well as 18 cases of distraction at the wheel.
The situation regarding child locking in the car was particularly worrying: 15 children were unsecured, and in seven other cases the backup was incorrect. The use of "parent taxis" was also checked, with 16 parking violations in the area of schools and daycare centers being documented. The police appealed to all road users to take more consideration for the little ones to ensure their safety in road traffic. "Our goal is that children get to the goal more safely," said Laura-Christin Brinkmann, spokeswoman for the Osnabrück police department.
