Traffic statistics 2024: More accidents, but fewer dead people in Central Hesse!
Kaufmännische Schulen, Lahn-Dill-Kreis, Deutschland - The traffic accident statistics for 2024 were presented in the police headquarters in Central Hesse. There was a slight increase in the number of accidents to a total of 22,941, which corresponds to an increase of 381 accidents compared to the previous year. While the total accident figures have increased, the number of traffic accident deaths is fortunately declined. The increase in e-scooter accidents, which is almost 80 %, attracts special attention. The main causes of traffic accidents with injuries are often distance, right of way and excessive speed.
As part of the presentation, a crash course for young drivers also took place, which aims to reduce the number of serious traffic accidents in this age group. Organized by police president Torsten Krückemeier and the first chief police chief Andreas Düding, the participants were impressively shown what risks and consequences can have careless decisions in road traffic.
