Traffic accident statistics 2024: E-scooter accidents explode in Central Hesse!

Kaufmännische Schulen des Lahn-Dill-Kreises, Deutschland - In 2024, the police headquarters in Middle Hesse experienced a slight increase in traffic accidents. A total of 22,941 cases were registered, which corresponds to less than two percent compared to the previous year. While the number of traffic accident deaths is declining, the number of accidents with e-scooters rose dramatically by almost 80 %. The most common causes of accidents with injuries are insufficient distance, reduction in priority and excessive speed.

As part of a prevention program called crash course, an event for young drivers took place at the commercial schools of the Lahn-Dill district. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the risks in road traffic, especially for inexperienced drivers under the age of 25. Relatives of the "rescue chain" reported personal experiences with tragic traffic accidents to sensitize young people to the possible consequences of careless decisions. Police President Torsten Krückemeier emphasized the importance of the Enlightenment in order to strengthen the awareness of responsibility in road traffic.
