Customs on the FMO: Large family fails miserably in the cigarette smuggling!
At the Münster/Osnabrück Airport, a spectacular cigarette smuggling of a large Dutch family was uncovered. The family of seven tried to smuggle 37 rods in their luggage unnoticed - a huge violation of the customs regulations!
The customs authorities found that the tobacco products were hidden in all cavities and openings of the luggage. During the search, the customs officers also found several plastic bags full of cigarettes. The attempt to outsmart customs ended expensive for the family: they had to pay 2,280 euros, consisting of 1,140 euros for the taxes and the same amount as a punishment for the smuggling. After setting the high sum, the family was finally allowed to travel home.
