Customs grabs Dutch duo with 70,000 euros on the way to Iraq!

Hauptzollamt Düsseldorf, 40221 Düsseldorf, Deutschland - Two unemployed Dutch wanted to smuggle a whopping 70,000 euros to Iraq on April 21, 2025! On its way, the group - consisting of three adults and one child - noticed the federal police. This immediately handed over the suspects to customs that is responsible for the control of cash.

A 36-year-old native of Iraqi had an incredible 50,000 euros in a shoulder bag, while his 35-year-old Afghan accomplice was traveling with 20,000 euros. The customs officials also requested the luggage that had already been abandoned for control, but there were no complaints. Nevertheless, the customs officers initiated an administrative offense procedure against the men because they had not registered the cash - and all the money was secured. According to the strict regulations, amounts from 10,000 euros must be registered at the customs office to combat money laundering and illegal money movements.
