Customs balance 2024: Dortmund's customs officers secure 2 billion euros!

In 2024, the main customs office Dortmund took impressive 2 billion euros in tariffs, consumption taxes and other taxes. The officials have processed over 18 million goods and secured cash sums of more than 1.2 million euros during controls at the Dortmund airport. Particularly alarming, the securing of almost 300 kilograms of narcotics due to the control unit traffic routes, which also confiscated 587 kilos of un taxed water pipe tobacco and over 100,000 untracted cigarettes.

The control unit also ensured almost 45,000 plagiarism last year, the total value of which is around 3.4 million euros. In addition, numerous investigations were initiated, including 330 due to tax evasion. A particularly strange incident occurred at the airport when a family left her sleeping son in the arrival hall - the little one slept peacefully on a bench while the parents thought he was in the car. The customs officers discovered him in good time and ensured that he came back to his family safely.
