The main customs office Itzehoe presents impressive figures: over 48,000 customs officers help to strengthen Germany's business location and protect citizens from fake products. Under the direction of Robert Dütsch, international trade is monitored and a smooth flow of goods is ensured. Last year, thanks to intensive controls, numerous drugs such as cocaine and heroin as well as illegal ammunition were ensured, which impressively demonstrates the punch of customs.

The customs officials carried out over 7,000 exams to combat undeclared work, which led to 3,020 criminal and 2,375 fine procedures. Overall, fines add up to 4.5 million euros! "Our presence startles smugglers and secures the tax revenue," said the deputy director Eckhard Trede. Another year of success for customs in Schleswig-Holstein, which effectively protects the boundaries between business and consumers and maintains the law.
