Bornheim's new Main Bad: Closed again after just two months!

The newly opened Main Bad in Bornheim, which only started operations at the end of May, has to close again. This time, bathing operations are expected to be interrupted until September 1, 2025. The reason for this measure is necessary “optimization and revision work” which, according to the Frankfurt swimming pool company, does not reveal any serious defects in the bathroom, but is simply part of the adaptation process. Managing director Boris Zielinski emphasized that the opening on May 24th was necessary despite possible restrictions in order not only to show the pool under test conditions, but also to still offer bathers an experience, even if this brought with it a certain degree of uncertainty.

The last few weeks in particular had brought some surprises to visitors: the adventure area and the sports pool temporarily stopped operating in the first half of June, which caused confusion among customers as incorrect closing times were sometimes stated on the pool company's website. Such short-term closures were certainly expected, but the question remains as to whether customers can be spared further inconvenience in the future.

The Main Bad – A new highlight for Bornheim

The Main Bad Bornheim replaces the old panoramic pool and offers outdoor pool enthusiasts numerous attractions. With construction costs of 67 million euros, which were more than double the originally planned costs, the pool now boasts a water surface of 900 square meters. Visitors can look forward to a magnificent swimming world with an adventure pool, a toddler pool and a 25 meter long swimming pool with six lanes. But that's not all - the large sauna area, equipped with four saunas, a steam bath and cozy relaxation areas, also ensures relaxation.

The leisure activities are also very popular: a three-meter diving tower and a 74-meter-long tube slide invite both young and old to have fun. The wave slide also provides lots of action. The Main Bad has not only established itself as a swimming opportunity, but could also become the new favorite address for families in the region.

Cologne bathing pleasures – a look beyond the city limits

In a broader context, the thermal baths in Riga are role models for modern well-being. These facilities promote health and relaxation not only through sauna sessions, but also through various activities that are specifically designed for families. Whether water slides for children or saunas for adults – Riga has a lot to offer its guests. There are also overnight accommodation options here to make your stay even more pleasant, similar to the offers in the new Main Bad.

Overall, it remains to be seen whether the Main Bad will do everything right with its upcoming reopening in September. Those responsible and the loyal visitors hope that the next few months will be uninterrupted and that the pool will become what it should be: a place for encounters, fun and relaxation.

For everyone who would like to visit Main Bad Bornheim, fingers crossed that the experience will soon be fully available again. Until then you have to be patient!
