Canyon opens mega store in Frankfurt: e-bikes ready for testing!

The bicycle market in Germany is on the move, and not just on the streets. Canyon has just opened its new pop-up store in Frankfurt am Main, in a meaningful partnership with the bicycle dealer KarlvonDrais. This is the fourth official location in Germany, underlining Canyon's ambitious strategy to connect the digital world with physical contact points. On July 12, 2025, the starting signal was given for this 500 square meter store at Mainzer Landstrasse 16, which offers Frankfurters access to an exciting selection of models, including the latest urban e-bikes and high-quality racing bikes.

What makes the new store special? Historical charm! The vault of a former bank building gives the shop a unique ambience. And that's not all: A permanent location is planned in Sachsenhausen, which, with over 1,000 square meters, will offer exactly the experience that the modern cycling world demands. A showroom, a workshop and extensive storage space are also planned. In this context, Canyon reports that the Experience Partner Program will be expanded to 15 locations in several countries by mid-2025, including Belgium, Finland and the USA.

Expanding physical presence

With this opening, Canyon is pursuing a strategy that underlines the need for physical touchpoints. This development comes at a time when the German bicycle market has to overcome various challenges. According to a recent study, the market experienced a 10% decline in sales to 6.3 billion euros in 2024. Despite these difficulties, Germany remains the largest sales market in Europe, and it is even expected that the market will grow to a volume of 22 billion euros by 2030 - that makes you want more!

Digital meets physical

The combination of online and offline offerings is the key to Canyon's recipe for success. Following a trend in which e-bikes are becoming increasingly popular, Canyon wants to show with its new concept that personal contact cannot be replaced. “We want to offer customers individual advice and the opportunity to try out bikes before buying,” adds Canyon. Sales of e-bikes in Germany have recently fallen by 2%, but enthusiasm for them is still strong and now accounts for 86% of sales in the German bicycle market.

Although the market is currently more difficult, the outlook for the future remains optimistic. The downward trends in mechanical bicycles are leveling off, and the potential of e-bikes is reflected in constantly new models and innovations. The opening of the new Canyon store in Frankfurt is more than just a new sales point - it is a step into a multidimensional future of the bicycle market.
