Trachtenkapelle Niederwihl celebrates 100 years full of music and enthusiasm!

The Niederwihl Trachtenkapelle celebrated its 100th anniversary on Saturday with a fixed banquet in the parish. The celebration was musically accompanied by the oldie band of the traditional costume chapel itself. It was a particularly festive occasion in which the club members gave anecdotes from the long history of the club. The association was founded in 1925 as a music association, originally without women, which are now firmly integrated into club life. The traditional costume chapel is currently under the musical direction of conductor Katja Strittmatter, who succeeded Patricia Caronna, which conducted from 2003 to 2005.

The association has continuously established new structures and management teams over the years. In 2012, two women, Jeanette Leisinger and Natalie Basler, took over the board for the first time. Jessica Schmid, Timo Schrieder and Martin Landis are active in the current board team. Ralf Eckert, Vice President of the Blasmusikverband Hochrhein, praised the traditional band as a youthful and fresh. Simon Stoll, Chairman of District 2 of the Association, underlined that many young members take responsibility in the association.

club history and tradition

Mayor Mike Biehler emphasized the great importance of the 100th anniversary for perseverance, cohesion and the loyalty of people in Niederwihl. The traditional costume chapel is an integral part of community life and plays on various occasions such as May 1st and church holidays. An abundance of memories and events of the association found its precipitation in the commemorative publication written by Annika Wehrle, which contains contributions by Thomas Wehrle and Franz Maise. Isabell Dannenberger designed the logo and the cover of the commemorative publication.

In 1996 a support association was founded that continues to support the traditional costume chapel. There is also an oldie band that has been active for 25 years. The celebrations for the 100th anniversary will be organized on the weekend from October 3 to 5, 2025 as part of the traditional Thanksgiving Festival, which will also be a district music festival.

future events

In addition to the anniversary, the 86th Thanksgiving Festival Niederwihl is on the agenda, which will take place from October 4 to 6, 2024. The program includes a Malle party on Friday evening, a children's afternoon with a pumpkin carving competition and a Bavarian evening with the Froschenkapelle Radolfzell on Saturday. A traditional festival Sunday is planned on Sunday, starting with a festival service and a large parade. The pre-sale for the event takes place via the newly designed website of the traditional costume chapel: www.tracht-kapelle-niederwihl.com .

The history of the Niederwihl traditional chapel is closely interwoven with the development of brass music in the region. The Austrian brass music association in recent decades has to carry out numerous initiatives to promote brass music, including competitions and educational offers. These constant efforts help to keep the tradition of brass music alive and to inspire new generations for music culture.
