Elementary school students are committed to a good cause during the donation run!

Undenheim, Deutschland - The Eduard Orth elementary school organized a donation run last Friday, which was carried out by the students with a lot of commitment and fun. The run took place on an approximately 450 meter long circuit around the school premises and led the participants past the teacher car park, along the pedestrian path and over the gravel path at the town hall, into the grove behind the school and back to the school entrance. In parallel to the run, an outdoor day with various play options was geared to offer the children additional leisure activities.

To avoid overcrowding, the student body was divided into two groups. First, the first and second graders ran, while the third and fourth graders played in the outdoor area. After a change, the older children took over the running route. The families had the opportunity to decide for themselves how much they wanted to donate per round. It was also voted on which charitable organization should be supported, but an overall amount and the exact results of the donation run have not yet been announced.

The contribution of the student parliament

Half of the money collected will benefit the students. The decision on what this partial amount is to be used for is the student parliament. This parliament consists of the class speakers of the different classes and meets the school management once a month to discuss important topics. The concerns of the student body are discussed in the class council and then brought into the student parliament, where a log management takes place in order to address them in teacher conferences and team meetings.

One of the last major projects in the student parliament is a donation run for Ukraine, in which children developed information flyers and structurally designed the donation collection. Thematic focuses in the student parliament include a sense of responsibility, commitment and participation. The current student representatives are Luna from the 4c and Yonah from the 4b.

organization of the donation run

A systematic approach was chosen for the organization of the donation run, as with other similar actions. The students are looking for sponsors in their private environment. These receive a collective link that you can donate through during the run. The sponsors are registered either by themselves or by the students, and the donation processing is automatically processed via a platform after the run. After completing the campaign, the sponsors receive a link to the simple donation by email.

After the end of the donation run, at least half of the proceeds will be handed over to the charity. For individual donors who take part in the campaign, a donation certificate can be issued, but not for the entire sum that is transferred to the organization for tax reasons.

Overall, the event shows how important it is to sensitize children to social projects and give them the opportunity to become active. The successful donation run of the Eduard Orth elementary school is an excellent example of how communal engagement can achieve positive effects. It remains to be seen what the students will ultimately use.
