Aalen, Deutschland - The ALSEL group Aalen invites you to a special meeting on May 30, 2025, on the occasion of the World Ms Day, which focuses on the exchange and support of people with multiple sclerosis (MS). The group pursues the goal of drawing attention to this chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system and promoting understanding of the challenges with which those affected are faced with. Around 280,000 people in Germany are currently diagnosed with MS, whereby women are affected twice as often as men.

In particular, young adults are affected by this autoimmune disease, the diagnosis of which is usually between the ages of 20 and 40. The symptoms of MS can be varied and range from motor and visual disturbances to emotional disorders. Prejudices that MS patients represent as only wheelchair users can be found frequently and do not correspond to reality. Some of those affected even find the diagnosis as a liberation, since they can gain clarity about their symptoms.

World Ms Day 2025

This year the World Ms Day is under the motto "1,000 faces and yours: life with multiple sclerosis". In addition to the meeting in Aalen, Amsel organized various events on May 28, 2025, including live lectures, virtual seminars and a stand in Stuttgart. In these events, reports by those affected such as Antonia, Julian and Elena are presented, which provide insights into their symptoms and strategies to cope with the disease.

At the meetings of the Amsel Group in Aalen, the exchange between those affected is particularly emphasized. Edeltraud Strobel, the group leader, emphasizes the importance of positive thinking and mutual support for the quality of life of the participants. Here those affected can share their experiences and learn how to deal with the challenges of everyday life.

support options for those affected

As the association AMSEL and other initiatives emphasize, it is important for people with MS to find support. In addition to self-help groups, you have different information resources, such as the My Therapy app or the MS guide "Spring so that you can fly" by Irene Sybertz. The German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) also offers over 900 groups that provide information and support.

In addition, those affected can use advisory services that range from general practitioners and specialists to social services. Psychologists and psychotherapists are also available to help with emotional stress. Online communities and blogs offer platforms for the exchange of personal experiences, which means that many affected people discover new therapies and ways to cope with their symptoms.

The success of therapies can often be shaped by positive experiences, so that the exchange in self -help groups is essential. Patients report progress that they have achieved thanks to specific therapeutic measures such as occupational therapy and rehabilitation sports. The World Ms Day and the activities of the Aalen group thus make a significant contribution to improving the living conditions of people with MS and their relatives.
