Flixtrain relies on the future: 65 new express trains for all of Germany!

flixtrain, known for its inexpensive and environmentally friendly travel options, plans to expand its long -distance traffic. Like ZVW reports this development includes the order of up to 65 new express trains from the Spanish Zugbauer Talgo. The locomotives are to be delivered in cooperation with Siemens. 30 trains have already been ordered, while the option consists of 35 other trains. Overall, the purchase, including maintenance, will cost up to 2.4 billion euros.

The new trains will reach speeds of up to 230 km/h and enable passengers to get barrier -free. So far, the exact delivery dates are still open. Flixtrain has been active in long -distance traffic since 2017 and is one of the few competitors of Deutsche Bahn. Flixtrain currently operates 13 trains that are usually managed by partner companies.

extension of the route network

In addition to the new trains, Flixtrain is also expanding geographically. In a further step, the Flix corporate , Flixtrain has been using its greatest expansion since its existence. As of today, the route network will include the connection between Hamburg and Berlin for the first time. Munich is also connected to the network and a new connection from Munich to Frankfurt is introduced.

The first night line, which leads from Munich via Berlin to Hamburg, is among the new offers. These extensions enable flixtrain to double the number of route and to connect 16 new cities. A total of around 40 cities are now served, including Nuremberg, Erlangen, Bamberg and Jena.

environmentally friendly mobility and customer service

flixtrain also relies on sustainable mobility by operating all trains 100% with green electricity. Tickets are booked either via the Flixtrain website or the Flixbus app, and passengers have the opportunity to combine their trips with Flixbus to find the best connections. Student and group trips are also possible, whereby groups of 20 or more people can make bookings.

For travelers, Flixtrain guarantees free seats when booking a ticket and offers free WiFi on board. Tickets are already available from EUR 4.99. Flix boss André Schwämmlein emphasizes that this investment is a positive signal for the rail market, which is also supported by Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (CDU). Thanks to this development, Flixtrain is becoming increasingly a quick alternative to the ICE trains of Deutsche Bahn.
