Bavaria fights against radio theaters: citizens are now reporting network problems!

Bayern, Deutschland - On May 26, 2025, Bavaria starts a nationwide mobile phone measurement week to close identified radio spots in the mobile network. Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger emphasizes the crucial importance of good network coverage, not only for private individuals, but also for traders. Despite considerable investments in the infrastructure, there are still challenges in network coverage.

As part of a comprehensive funding program of 130 million euros, new radio masts have already been built. Aiwanger admits that there are still functional radio sparkles that urgently need to be closed. The ministry also plans to support the municipalities in building radio masts, which can then be rented to network operators to improve the cover.

Mobile phone measurement week and citizen participation

Citizens are asked to actively participate in this initiative by reporting via the official app of Federal Network Agency Funklöcher. This data is used to improve the network coverage and to support the mobile phone suppliers in their plans.

Aiwanger emphasizes that comprehensive mobile phone supply has become increasingly important for the location decisions of companies. The mobile phone measurement week will help to analyze the existing care and to implement improvements in a targeted manner.

Current mobile phone supply in Bavaria

The Federal Network Agency also provides an interactive mobile phone card in Bavaria and all of Germany. This platform offers users the option of accessing information on mobile phone standards such as 2G, 4G and 5G and specifically looking for postcode, street or place. The user information collected helps to check and validate the data of the mobile network operators.
