Suspicion of beer at Rock im Park: Fans demand Franconian alternatives!

at Rock im Park, one of the largest music festivals in Germany, the beer offer is causing resentment among visitors this year. Instead of the usual Franconian beers like Warsteiner, but the Spanish camp beer San Miguel, is ultimately served. The price of almost seven euros per beer is perceived as inappropriate and contributes to dissatisfaction. A woman from Bayreuth criticized the beer, which she describes as "always bad", and instead wants a selection of regional specialties, especially basement beer. Another visitor from the Sauerland compared the appearance of San Miguel negatively with the previous offer.

The question of regional beer types is raised by several guests. Rainer from Nuremberg states that the new beer can be drinked, but he also wishes the native brewery Schanzenbräu on the bar. Katrin from Stein expresses similar preferences and also does not make a good word about the selection. A group of supporters also advocates a larger selection of non -alcoholic beer.

logistical hurdles and sponsorship

Matthias Adolph, the festival spokesman, said that the selection of the brewery partners was not based on regional points of view. Logistical challenges have led to the pretense of large brewery consortiums such as Anheuser-Busch Inbev. The group sponsors the festival and has taken over the beer offer together with Beck’s since this year. Smaller Franconian brewery farms traditionally struggle with logistics that are required for a big event. Exceptions are the larger breweries Tucher and Kulmbacher, but both are not focused on rock in the park in their strategies, as the reports from Infranken.de show.

Tucher, once a partner at Rock im Park, has now devoted itself to other sponsorship opportunities, while Kulmbacher considers the festival to be not relevant. These developments illustrate that regional providers do not enjoy a “home advantage” in the beer offer and the selection is made for logistical skills and experiences in the festival business.

Alternatives in the festival calendar

The anticipation for the Dortmund beer culture is growing, while the beer pleasure at Rock im Park will continue to provide discussions this year. However, under the current conditions, the probability that Nuremberg beer will be served in the coming year is considerable.
