Animal welfare in danger: visitor behavior shocked on the open day!

On June 2, 2025, the animal shelter in Berg was partly overshadowed by inappropriate incidents, although the event of the open house was considered successful in mid -May. Many volunteers had committed themselves to generate donations and income for the shelter, which is borne by the animal protection association Ravensburg-Wingarten. Mathias Jung, the chairman, emphasized that without these donations, many offers from the shelter would not be possible. Nevertheless, some of the helpers learned harassment from guests during the event.

Visitors insulted the volunteers due to the longer waiting times and verbally pushed them. Two young helpers in particular were dissolved in tears by the inappropriate insults. Another helper even injured her foot by gross bumps from guests. Jung expressed concern about the increasingly demanding thinking and the unfriendliness of some guests, but also found that the majority of visitors behaved correctly and cooperatively.

voluntary work of central importance

Despite the incidents, the willingness to volunteer work in animal welfare remains high. Volunteers in animal shelters are unpaid and indispensable. The Animal protection league emphasizes that volunteers not only contribute to improving the life of the animals, but also complement the limited personnel and financial resources of the animal shelters. Permanent servants are often overloaded and urgently need support.

The activities of the volunteers can vary, from basic animal care to organizational tasks. Their work gives the animals the chance of a new home and a worthy phase of life. The events such as the Spring Festival and the Open Day have shown that the community is behind the animal welfare projects and actively supports.

A look beyond the borders

There are also initiatives outside the region based on voluntary work, such as the Hundredth in Europe . This organization is looking for committed helpers for your graphics department to improve the visual communication of your projects. We are looking for creative minds that have experience in graphic design and want to put their skills in the service of animal welfare.

volunteers can work in various areas, from graphic design to the design of internal documents to the support of publications such as the "Pfoten-Magazin". The organization also offers space for creative ideas and a positive impact on animal welfare.

Overall, the voluntary commitment in animal welfare remains of great importance. It not only enables the financing and operation of animal shelters, but also the improvement of living conditions for many animals in need.
