A dramatic fall occurred on Thursday evening in Merkers when a 54-year-old crashed into the exterior mirror of a parked car with his bike. The violent impact threw the cyclist to the ground and led to serious head injuries. Immediate help came in the form of an ambulance that took the injured man to the hospital.

A breath alcohol test revealed that the cyclist was alcoholic with 1.79 per thousand. This led to the order of a blood sample. Despite the impact, the property damage on the vehicles remained low.
