The University of the Bundeswehr Munich (Unibw M) was involved on the nationwide diversity day, which took place on May 27, 2025. From May 26 to 28, 2025, the university offered numerous events under the motto "From university to BW: Discover the campus". These events had the goal of promoting diversity, tolerance and respectful coexistence. Civil and military employees as well as students came to conversation with each other to understand different specialist and work areas as well as cultures.
The highlights of the activities included the event "Newcomer@Unibw M - Lunch & Connect" on May 26 that the new employees offered the opportunity to exchange and network. Another event was an information session of the parental allowance center in Bavaria Family and Social Affairs on May 27, which clarified the topic of parental allowance. In addition, there was an entertaining quiz entitled "Experience diversity on campus - combines language", which tested the knowledge of the university and language diversity.
events to promote diversity
A special French breakfast organized by military pastoral care addressed the Franco-German friendship. The interactive day of “sporty synergies” took place on May 28th. As part of the “Perspective Change-Immersive Experience Days” project, the participants including sports such as sitting volleyball and a wheelchair course were able to try out the health and social participation.
The civil equality office of the Unibw M has coordinated the program for the action day since 2017. The Bundeswehr is also committed to a respectful handling and equal opportunities by signing the Charter of Diversity, which has become a non -profit association for diversity in companies since 2010. The Charter obliges organizations to create a respectful and trusting work environment and focus on the dimensions of diversity.
diversity dimensions and social context
On the 9th German Diversity Day, seven core diversity dimensions were presented: age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental skills, religion and worldview, sexual orientation as well as social origin. These dimensions are equivalent and are to be integrated into the activities for diversity. Social origin in particular may be a relevant topic for many, since it often influences educational opportunities and access to the labor market.
In Germany, the importance of diversity in the world of work is discussed intensively, whereby companies are asked to take a clear position. This form of discussion is particularly important, since diversity is viewed as a attitude for a fair, respectful and future -proof working world. The Arsipa Group, a service provider in occupational safety, recently signed the Charter of Diversity and thus makes its commitment visible to a various corporate culture.
Finally, Prof. Eva-Maria Kern, President of the Unibw M, addressed a greeting to all university members who can be found on the university's YouTube channel.
