sustainability and local producers

An important topic at Fashion Week is sustainability. Many designers, including the new Label Working Title, are working under the direction of Antonia Goy and Björn Kubeja, are committed to making production more environmentally friendly. Their goal is to produce biodegradable collections and to completely do without plastic. This vision is supported by many in the industry and is more than just a trend - it seems to shape the future of fashion.

But not only the big labels are involved, lone fighter such as Lydia Maurer also works on sustainable swimmingodes that adapt to all body shapes. Her creations come directly from GOTS-certified factories and are produced fairly. The importance of social responsibility is highly emphasized here, because sustainability is much more than just a keyword.

Despite the positive developments, young designers face challenges. Limited purchasing power in Berlin and rising studio prices represent obstacles. However, the Berlin Senate actively campaigns for the fashion industry and supports creative talents with around four million euros annually. Over 25,000 jobs and sales of five billion euros confirm the relevance of the industry in the capital.

The importance of social media and online sales is constantly increasing, and Johann Ehrhardt encourages all young designers to present their work online and not only market in their own neighborhood. "Especially in times like these, it makes sense to focus digital platforms into focus," said the designer. So Berlin remains not only a place of creative work, but also a hotspot for international fashion.
