Berlin asks: How dirty is our city really? Join now!
Cleanliness in Berlin is a hot topic. A recent survey shows that many Berliners find the city dirty. In order to counteract this situation, the Senate Chancellery has launched a comprehensive online survey intended to obtain citizens' opinions on this explosive topic. This is reported by [Welt](https://www.welt.de/wirtschaft/article256295028/Berlin-Die- Survey-legen-das-Scheitern-der-Berliner-Verwaltung-gnadenlos-offen.html). This survey will run until July 31, 2025 and anyone – whether a resident, tourist or commuter – can take part.
Anyone who finds the time invests around 10 to 15 minutes in the survey, which is available in six languages - from German and English to Turkish, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian. A quote excerpt according to RBB24 reveals that the participants have to choose five types of pollution that they most often encounter in their neighborhood from a list of types of pollution such as dog excrement or car wrecks. The responsibility of citizens for cleanliness is also discussed.
Cleanliness measures
The results of the survey are to be published in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will be incorporated into the Berlin Senate's overall “Clean City” strategy, as the Press and Information Office of the State of Berlin informs Berlin.de. This strategy is aimed not only at avoiding and disposing of waste, but also at keeping parks and green spaces clean. Another important aspect is the promotion of civil society engagement against the constant littering of public places.
To support citizens, there is the “Ordnungsamt Online” app, which can be used to report waste matters directly. This measure is intended to facilitate communication between citizens and the city administration and actively contribute to improving cleanliness. “So far, what the population thinks about cleanliness has not been systematically recorded,” says Martina Klement, State Secretary for Digitalization and Administrative Modernization, explaining the importance of the survey.
- Umfrage läuft bis: 31. Juli 2025
- Dauer: 10 bis 15 Minuten
- Sprachen: Deutsch, Englisch, Türkisch, Arabisch, Russisch, Ukrainisch
Consequently, taking part in this survey is an important opportunity for residents to have their voice heard about Berlin's cleanliness. The city administration is excited about the feedback and plans to respond to the results accordingly in order to noticeably improve the quality of life in the capital.
