Dresden receives millions for groundbreaking research projects
Dresden, Deutschland - die Technical University of Dresden has received from the German Research Foundation (DFG) for two new collaborative research areas (SFB). These initiatives, which will start from October 2025, take into account current social challenges in the areas of mobility and health. The DFG thus promotes long -term research that has been created for several years.
The first special research area, SFB/TRR 408 entitled "Agimo: Data -based agile planning for responsible mobility", is realized in cooperation with the Technical University of Munich. The aim of this project is to develop innovative methods for mobility planning that integrate different types of traffic. The so-called "4F principles"-function, form, fairness, forever-should be included in the planning. In addition, a digital twin is developed as an open source application to comprehensively record and analyze mobility data.
research on fatty liver diseases
The second special research area, SFB/Transregio 412, is devoted to the "metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease" (Masld) and is carried out in cooperation associations with the Charité-University Medicine Berlin, the Free University of Berlin and the Humboldt University in Berlin. This SFB is intended to focus on new therapeutic approaches to combat fatty liver diseases that are the most common chronic liver disease and affect around 25% of the population. The DFG provides invaluable 13 million euros over a period of four years.
The research project will focus, among other things, lipid analytics, genomic analyzes and immunetabolism. The focus is on the development of innovative therapies and prevention strategies, especially in view of lifestyle factors such as unhealthy nutrition and lack of exercise that can influence the development of illness. Synergy effects can also be expected, since the Charité in cooperation with the TU Dresden and the M3 Research Center at the University of Tübingen is researching the cellular processes of this disease.
funding structure and international cooperation
Total overall, the DFG plans to promote a total of 262 allies from October 2025. This illustrates the commitment of the DFG for international collaborations that are sought by the Collaborative Research Ages (SFB). It is an important goal of promoting scientific excellence and building international networking structures. The development of such cooperation not only enables international scientists, but also promotes the competitiveness of the research groups involved. The DFG supports these endeavors through additional funds for travel, colloquien and guest scientists.
With the new special research areas at the TU Dresden and the Charité, an important step in research on mobility and health is heralded, which can have a local and international effect. The DFG shows that it wants to further drive innovative approaches in science.
