Luxury bargains at TwinsCompany: 5 euro Saturday causes a rush!
In Berlin it is always an exciting affair when furniture and furnishings from luxury hotels are offered for sale. Currently making waves is TwinsCompany, which recently purchased inventory from hotels that are closing or in need of renovation. The huge rush on the so-called “5 Euro Saturday” speaks volumes: on the first Saturday of every month, bargain hunters can enjoy reduced prices on items with signs of wear. Owner Astrid Eilers has realized that offering such items is not only a way to free up space, but also gives customers the chance to find real treasures. Eilers herself has a penchant for curtains and porcelain, which makes her department a highlight. And on these special sales days, there are even food trucks at the door to supply the hungry bargain hunters.
But despite all the joy about the offers, you also have to look at the background. A well-known example is the 4-star hotel abba in Berlin, which will close its doors at the end of 2024 due to bankruptcy. The AXA Group, as the landlord, prevented any possibility of continued operation, which resulted in 60 employees losing their jobs. As part of this bankruptcy, a sell-off of the entire inventory was organized, which is now being managed by TwinsCompany. Popular items such as coffee sets, bedside and side tables as well as the coveted hotel beds are the focus - some models are already sold out, at a price of 199 euros per bed. A previous sale day saw Nespresso capsule machines and minibars offered at a hot price.
Selling out with a rush
One of the sales campaigns at the abba Hotel was canceled prematurely because the demands exceeded the possibilities. The last sales period was on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and buyers had no opportunity to exchange the items they purchased. The offers were tempting for bargain hunters: a trouser press for just 1 euro is an example of the low prices that could be found. In addition, a sales campaign is also being prepared at Hecker’s Hotel, which also had to file for bankruptcy.
The Scandic Hotel Group plans to resume operations at the abba Hotel in 2026, but uncertainty remains for the affected employees for now. So while the hotel industry has its challenges, the furniture outlet sector is thriving. Customers who live in Berlin or regularly visit the city can look forward to TwinsCompany's quarterly sales, which not only promise real bargains, but also offer unique pieces of furniture straight from the hotel rooms.
For those who are not on site, TwinsCompany also offers an online shop, so that no one is left without the option of having the offers delivered to their home. This means no space is left unused, and the love for stylish furniture is also flourishing in the digital world. So if you have a good hand at browsing, you definitely shouldn't miss out on the next sales promotions!
