VfB Stuttgart crowns into a cup winner - 28 years of waiting has an end!

VfB Stuttgart won the DFB Cup on May 24, 2025 and celebrated a 4-2 victory against Arminia Bielefeld in the final, which took place in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. In front of 74,036 spectators, the team of coach Sebastian Hoeneß showed an impressive performance, especially in the first half, in which they scored three goals and took 3-0 lead. Nick Woltemade opened the goal series in the 15th minute, followed by Enzo Millot in the 22nd minute and Deniz Undav in the 28th minute. Millot crowned his performance with another goal in the 66th minute, which increased the score to 4: 0.

Bielefeld, a third division team, scored the first goal of a third division in a DFB Cup final in the 82nd minute by Julian Kania and thus shortened to 1: 4. Josha Vagnoman, who had previously played heavily, then achieved an own goal in the 85th minute, which meant the final score of 4: 2. Despite strong performance in the cup competition, Bielefeld did not find a happy ending and could not prevail against the favorite Stuttgart.

The way to the title

Angelo Stiller, who returned to the team after surviving ligament injury, was decisively involved in the three goals in the first half. He also prepared the goals of Woltemade, Millot and Undav, which made his return all the more remarkable. The coach Sebastian Hoeneß thus won his first title in his 99th game as a coach, and winning the DFB Cup marks the first title for VfB Stuttgart since the championship in 2007.

For VfB Stuttgart, this is the fourth DFB Cup victory in the club's history, after previous successes in 1954, 1958 and 1997. The cup victory also qualifies the Stuttgart for the UEFA Europa League in the coming season. Bielefeld, on the other hand, had delivered strong services in the current cup season, and unfortunately could not build on the successes in the final.
