35 years of ASB Brandenburg: A success story full of charity!

A very special anniversary was celebrated last Saturday: The ASB local association from Brandenburg looks back on 35 moving years. The celebrations took place in the Audimax of the THB, which not only recognized the story, but also the important role of the association in the region. The ASB has achieved a lot from the entry to the club register on July 13, 1990 to the successful development, which was particularly visible through the red-yellow vans. The first full -time employees started on December 1, 1990 and a lot has happened since then.

When the local association was launched, there was a great need for support in various areas of life. Today the ASB covers numerous areas, including nursing services, driving services, a senior citizen forum and the nursing home in Dahlen, which is particularly known for its high quality in support. There, 73 people not only find a home, but also professional support from 60 employees who take care of the residents with a lot of commitment. asb-ov-brb.de confirms that the nursing home has existed since 1952 and was taken over by the ASB in 1994.

honors and speeches shape the ceremony

The anniversary celebration was peppered with emotional moments and honors. Founding members such as Siegfried Mende and Pastor Frank Herkommer were honored for their commitment. Karina Knoppe, the managing director of the ASB Brandenburg, recalled Detail Tomkowiak, a central figure in the history of the association. Mayor Steffen Scheller spoke about the beginnings of the ASB and the imperative of emergency aid, while deputy Alexandra Adel highlighted the special support for people with disabilities.

The speech by Cindy Schönknecht, the managing director of the Brandenburg State Association, highlighted the current project "Wünswagen", an example of the valuable work that the ASB does. The ASB's driving service, which comes on a total of 50,500 trips and around 600,000 kilometers a year, completes as many as 200 trips every day.

A look into the future

The ASB has continuously developed since the first few days and Spearheads such as the establishment of two daycare centers, "Stoppelhopser on the Scholle" and "Weinbergspatzen", who look after over 80 children. There are also residence such as Dahlen and the "Lichtblick" on the Görden, which are also located in the association area. The handsome park of the nursing home with its own nursery and animal care testifies to a high standard of living and a positive atmosphere for the residents, as can be read on asb-ov-brb.de.

The celebration was not only aimed at guests, but also to the residents who contributed to the event with a poem written by themselves. The celebration was given a special grade through the award from Margitta Spaller and Dr. Christian Schuster with the ASB Cross of Honor in Bronze.

Overall, the ceremony was a successful mix of dance, conversations and appreciation for the many people who are committed to the concerns of those in need. The future of the ASB is promising, also in view of the historical roots that go back to 1946 when the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in West Germany was re-founded under the Western Allied. asb.de shows how the ASB has developed over the years to an indispensable size in the social structure.

This is how the ASB Brandenburg remains the best examples of how much fun and commitment to work can be for the community. A high to the next 35 years and beyond!
