There is currently a very special highlight in the city of Bernau that is fueling anticipation for the upcoming celebrations. On Wednesday, November 5th, an impressive Colorado fir, approximately 14 meters high, was erected in the town square. This magnificent fir tree was donated by Lutz Möller, who is known from the Barnim music school and who cleared his garden of this tree because it had simply grown too big there. The lush green of the tree, which is around 40 years old and weighs around 3 tons, is sure to magically attract the attention of passers-by. The transport to the city center was carried out with a semi-trailer and under police escort in order to meet all security requirements, as barnim-aktuell.de reports.

A crane from BMS-Mietpartner was used to erect the fir tree. In the coming days, the Cultural Office will take over the decoration of the Christmas tree. And this is just the beginning of the festive preparations! Preparations for the Bernau Christmas market will start next week.

Advent atmosphere on the market square

A very special attraction will be the ice rink that will be set up around the Christmas tree. This will be ceremoniously opened on Monday, November 24th at 3 p.m. by a figure skating couple, Santa Claus and the mayor. From 4 p.m., visitors can go to the ice rink and enjoy the winter atmosphere. This would certainly be a great opportunity to venture onto the ice and do a few laps with friends or family.

The festival area for the Christmas market will be set up on Mayorstrasse, Mühlenstrasse and Brauerstrasse as well as around St. Mary's Church. The Christmas market officially starts on Friday, December 5th. The children can particularly look forward to the arrival of Knecht Ruprecht, who will drive up in his carriage to get the young and old visitors in the mood for the upcoming holidays.
