Three days of pure partying: the 28th Finowfurt rafting festival is exciting!
The 28th Finowfurt Rafting Festival ended on July 6, 2025, which attracted thousands of visitors to Finowfurt over three days. There was a happy festive atmosphere on Erzbergerplatz, Flößerplatz and in the main street, which was accompanied by a colorful entertainment program with music, dancing and culinary delicacies. How Barnim Current reported, the opening of the festival took place on Friday evening by Mayor Wilhelm Westerkamp and the Finowfurt raftsmen, who warmly welcomed those present.
As part of the celebrations, the raftsmen sang the traditional raftsman's song and didn't miss the opportunity to buy a keg of beer. Two DJs created the right atmosphere for the disco with hits that moved the visitors. On Saturday and Sunday a continuous program awaited the guests at Erzbergerplatz, where a variety of artists performed and offered music styles from hits to rock to pop and even line dancing.
Diverse supporting program
The Finowfurt school and the children from the “Spatzennest” daycare center delighted the audience with their programs, while the highlights of the festival were impressively expressed in the dance presentation by the “United Dance Family” on Saturday. The grand finale on Sunday evening included a traditional duck race in which around 900 rubber ducks swam and attracted many spectators to the banks of the Finow Canal.
On Sunday evening, the rafters finally celebrated the entry onto the water and the rafters' christening, followed by a breathtaking laser show and fireworks, which caused amazement and warm applause. The offerings also included numerous opportunities for visitors to experience traditional crafts and take entertaining raft trips with musical accompaniment. There were also workshops in which the participating children were able to make model rafts and demonstrate their skills by hammering nails.
Arrival and organization
The municipality of Schorfheide, as the organizer of the rafting festival, ensured that guests from out of town could travel conveniently. The Barnim bus company used additional bus connections between Eberswalde and Finowfurt to ensure smooth transport. On Friday and Saturday the buses ran until late at night so that all participants could enjoy the festival until the early hours of the morning. It was recommended to use public transport as certain stops were not served during the festival.
It can be said that the 28th Finowfurt Flößerfest was once again a great success, attracting hundreds of visitors from Eberswalde, Berlin and Oberhavel to celebrate together and strengthen the community. There is already great anticipation for the next edition, which is planned for July 4th to 6th, 2025.
