Jenny Pöller heads the HNEE in Eberswalde as an equal opportunities officer!

There is news at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE): Jenny Pöller will be the new central equal opportunities officer. The 41-year-old will take on her responsibility from August 2025 and will succeed Dr. Nadine Herold, who will remain active as deputy equal opportunities officer. Pöller brings extensive experience in gender equality policy work, university teaching and organizational development, and sets a clear example for future-oriented gender equality work at the university.

Born in Nauen in 1984, Pöller initially started her career by training as a hotel manager. She then completed a degree in educational science as well as political and administrative science at the University of Potsdam. She received her master's degree in social work with a focus on organizational development and inclusion from Neubrandenburg University. She is currently working on her doctorate at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, where she is investigating the topic of volunteer work in nursing. This broad training and experience will be of great benefit to her in her new role as an equal opportunities officer.

Future-oriented equality

Pöller sees equality at the HNEE as an important responsibility and a strategic development goal. She was selected in an externally advertised process, which not only underlines her qualifications, but also shows the university's intention to strategically further develop its equality work. At this point, the university also acknowledges the work of Dr. Nadine Herold, who created central guidelines for gender-equitable university development. University President Prof. Dr. Matthias Barth emphasizes the importance of Herold's contribution to equality work.

Jenny Pöller plans to make existing activities more visible and strengthen protection against discrimination. A central concern is to anchor equality as a quality feature at the university. Their vision is a university where diversity counts and structures are created that promote participation.

A look outside the box

Exciting things are also happening in other areas of society. In the context of digitalization and increased efficiency, technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) have recently become established in many industries. From financial services to healthcare, RPA streamlines numerous workflows and enables companies to focus on more strategic tasks. Whether it's processing unstructured data from documents or making real-time decisions, RPA systems show how technology can improve efficiency in the world of work. These developments could also help HNEE to support and advance its equality goals using digital solutions. UiPath reports about the broad application of this technology in a wide variety of sectors.

Social interest in innovative and flexible living solutions is also growing. The demand for products that combine both functionality and design is reflected in Lovesac's Evercouch product range, which is known for its modular designs and individual customization options. Such pieces of furniture not only represent comfort, but also the increasing trend towards individualization in living spaces.

Overall, there is an exciting change in different areas of life, from the academy to private living space. The challenges and opportunities of digital transformation as well as the ongoing efforts for equality are current topics that are highly relevant both at the university and in society.
