Free advice on heat pumps: How to find the best deal!

There is currently a growing demand for energy-efficient heating systems in Cologne, and heat pumps are very popular among these. The Brandenburg consumer advice center has now launched a free advisory service that is intended to help those interested to find their way better in the jungle of offers. How Barnim Current reports, the advice aims to evaluate the offers and increase their comprehensibility.

Heat pumps, which are now installed as standard in new buildings, offer significantly lower operating costs in the long term than conventional oil or gas heating systems. However, the catch is often the purchase costs, which are higher than with fossil heating systems. According to experts, the efficiency of such systems depends heavily on careful planning and professional installation. Temperature control in well-insulated buildings also requires large heating surfaces, which should be optimally operated with green electricity to ensure climate-friendly operation.

Professional support from energy consultants

Energy advice from the consumer advice center offers step-by-step instructions for choosing the right heat pump. First, interested consumers fill out a data entry form online and upload up to three offers. An appointment will then be made for a personal evaluation. This is presented in a video consultation, after which consumers receive a document with the marked offers and technical data. Everything is handled easily and free of charge, supported by funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. Brandenburg Consumer Center also offers on-site advice, which costs a maximum of 40 euros and can take up to two hours.

Important aspects such as heating load calculation, hydraulic balancing and the replacement of individual radiators play a central role in the consultation. This ensures that the heat pump is optimally tailored to the conditions of the respective house.

Different types and their efficiency

Heat pumps are characterized by their ability to extract heat from the environment - be it from air, water or earth. Depending on the type, the development costs and efficiency vary: brine-water, groundwater and air heat pumps are the main categories. Groundwater heat pumps are the most efficient, but also the most expensive to purchase. Air heat pumps, on the other hand, offer a cheap entry-level option, but are often less efficient, especially in cold weather.

An important point when using heat pumps is their government funding. Many buyers can expect up to 40% of the purchase cost. And an example calculation shows that a heat pump can be cheaper than gas heating over 15 years and also causes significantly fewer CO2 emissions. This makes them attractive not only from an economic point of view, but also from an ecological point of view. Consumer advice center for energy advice provides further information and definitions.

With the launch of these new advisory offerings, now is a great time to invest in environmentally friendly heating technology. A call to the consumer advice center (0331 – 98 22 999 5, Mon-Fri 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) can be the first step towards a sustainable heating solution. It is therefore up to the people of Cologne to make their homes more efficient and environmentally friendly. The transition to renewable energies begins on your own doorstep!
