Sunshine and sporting fun: 28th Regional Park Run inspires Blumberg!

September 6th, 2025 will be remembered for a long time by sports enthusiasts from Blumberg and the surrounding area. On this day, the 28th Regional Park Run took place in Lenné Park, and almost 200 participants set out on the various routes. In pleasantly warm temperatures and sunshine, the runners were able to complete their laps over distances of 1.5 km, 3 km, 6.6 km and 13.2 km. A Nordic walking competition over 3 km and 6.6 km was also offered. The Barnimer Feldmark Regional Park e. V. once again ensured an all-round successful event that not only focused on sporting achievements, but also on togetherness. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, which was still clearly noticeable after the run when we had lunch together.

The youngest participant Ania Schultgen from Bernau, who took on the challenge of 1.5 km in the U6 age group, gave a special insight into the run. On the other side of the age ladder, Karl-Heinz Hebler from Panketal shone, starting as the oldest participant in the U80 age group over 6.6 km. Both were honored for their achievements, which gave the run an additional personal touch.

Honors and international guests

Particularly noteworthy is Siglinde Stöllger, who was named “Field Marker of the Year 2024”. Her volunteer work over more than 20 years has left a lasting impression on the regional park. The awards were presented by Swen Schwarz, who also presented the mayor's trophy for the fastest runners over 13.2 km. Barnim Current reports that international guests were also present, including athletes from “Milenium Kołobrzeg” from Kolberg, who are expected to be there again next year.

A highlight of the run was the integration of part of the cycling and hiking path between Blumberg and Krummensee into the running route for the first time. The motto of the INTERREG program “Experience building culture” gave the event an additional cultural touch.

Looking into the future

For everyone who now wants to get active themselves, the next regional park run is scheduled for September 19, 2026. The regional park association is also celebrating 30 years of existence this year, which will provide a variety of exciting activities and events. Those interested in other running events can also register online DLV running calendar Take a look around, which offers a wide selection of running events in Germany and Europe. A big thank you goes to all the helpers and supporters who made this event a positive experience. The community and the sporting challenge are what make the regional park run a special tradition in the region.
