Tool theft in Barnim: Police investigated after nocturnal burglaries
In the past few days, tools from craftsmen from company vehicles have been increasingly stolen in the Region. On June 30, 2025, there were several burglaries that the police called on the scene. In Biesenthal, strangers broke into a company vehicle in the Kirchhofsweg and stealed valuable tools. The damage is estimated at several thousand euros. Also in Ladeburg, more precisely in Barbara-McClintock-Straße, thieves struck and left a similar picture: tools were stolen, the damage was again in the four-digit range. In both cases, the police secured fingerprint traces and are now determined on the basis of possible relationships between the actions, as the Barnim portal reports.
In Bernau, thieves tried their luck again, this time at a VW Crafter. The attempted break -in failed, but the damage amounts to around 500 euros. A ray of hope in this mixed balance, because setbacks are also available in crime statistics: the number of thefts in vehicles has increased nationwide. According to a dpa survey, a craftsman in Bergisch Gladbach discovered that the side window of his van was hit-the tools worth several thousand euros were gone. The trend is clear: the increase in thefts from craftsman vehicles cannot be overlooked in North Rhine-Westphalia.
worrying statistics
Another example of the increase in thefts from company vehicles is crime statistics all of Germany. In 2022 there were around 1.78 million thefts recorded by the police, including about 235,732 thefts in or from motor vehicles. These numbers speak volumes and show that theft does not seem to be allowed to let up. The clarification rate for apartment and vehicle thefts remains relatively low, which is not exactly a good feeling.
The entire range of crime
In the region, theft from craftsman vehicles is not only an issue. On Sunday evening, too, a 25-year-old motorcyclist fell on the A 11 between Wandlitz and Bernau Nord, presumably due to a technical defect. Fortunately, he was only slightly injured, but had to be treated by the rescue workers. The fire brigade was also in use to remove expiring operating materials. The property damage to the motorcycle amounts to around 20,000 euros and reminds us that everyday things can suddenly go wrong.
In a further incident, several ladders were stolen from a construction site on the B 176, whereby the damage here is estimated at around 2,000 euros. The thieves had overcome a construction fence, which causes additional complications to investigate the criminal police. Finally, a Yamaha XT 500 was stolen in Lunow, which was stolen by a private property. Here, too, the police recorded the advertisement and initiated the search.
These incidents, combined with increasing crime in the entire state, make the concerns of many craftsmen and business owners grow. It remains to be seen how the police will react to these developments and whether the clarification of such acts will be possible in the near future.
