Cyclists and runners celebrate again: An unforgettable day on the Buga route!
Brandenburg an der Havel, Deutschland - A happy reunion full of memories and sporting enthusiasm recently celebrated cyclists and runners at the Federal Garden Show Route (Buga). Organized by Detlev Voigt, one knew how to celebrate the sense of community in the Buga locations. Voigt said very positively about the friendly reception, which the participants at the Brandenburg Roland learned from Sybille Steinhäuser and Johannes Braun from the sports office. The team had taken care of the physical well -being with delicious fruit such as bananas and melons as well as non -alcoholic beer.
Despite the challenges that the wind brought with erectors and flags when decorating the destination, the organizers could not be discouraged. The uncomplicated atmosphere was also shaped by the selection of the vehicles: there were no e-bikes among the more than a dozen bicycles. A runner accompanied the group at the start in Havelberg before the cyclists were allowed to determine their pace themselves. We continued to Rhinow, where a guide led the athletes away from the usual paths.
The way to the destination
After a relaxing meal in Rathenow, the participants started the last 34 kilometers in the running step. Lars Heider and Ralph Labuda could not be stopped and, after a short stop in Pritzerbe, were one of the fastest. There were great news for the organizers: The accompanying vehicle of the city sports association was not required because there were no health problems or breakdowns. Only chief organizer Udo Pfeiffer suffered a small injury to the arm on a branch, which could not change the good mood.
The old town town hall in Brandenburg was the final destination, where Steinhäuser and Braun awaited the athletes. Before going back home for everyone, souvenir photos were taken in front of the entrance to the city administration and on the Roland. Moment after a moment was held so that the participants can look back on a wonderful event.
A look at the Buga
What makes the Federal Garden Show so special? An insightful historical foray shows that this horticultural exhibition occupies an important place in German culture. The first Buga took place in Hanover in 1951, and since then it has developed into an important event that takes place every two years in different cities. An impressive number of visitors of 2.2 million was recorded for the Buga 2023 in Mannheim, while the highest record in Munich was set up with 11.5 million visitors in 1983. Further Bugas are already planned for the future, e.g. 2027 in the Ruhr area and in 2029 in the World Heritage Cultural Landscape Oberes Mittelrheintal.
The path of the Federal Garden Show is also a testimony to the development of German garden history and the encounter with large garden architects, as it is impressively presented in the work "My heart is my garden" by Sabine Frank. Whether by the patronage of the Federal President or the support of associations such as the Horticultural Central Association, Buga remains an important part of the German garden tradition.
For all the passionate gardeners and nature lovers, it is clear: Buga not only offers a platform for creative garden art, but also a space for encounters and memories that will live on long after the last visit.
