Brandenburg an der Havel, Deutschland - In the "Riverboat", a very special birthday is celebrated today: Gojko Mitic, who is known as the "Winnetou of the East", is 85 years old. Mitic enjoyed great popularity in the 1960s to 1980s, especially with his role in the legendary DEFA films. These adventurous stories addressed the resistance of the indigenous peoples against white intruders and made the Yugoslawen a cult star in the GDR, where he participated in 12 of the 14 produced Indian films, such as MDR.
