Energie Cottbus brings in Bundesliga professional Lucoqui for the defense!
FC Energie Cottbus has confirmed a new name on the transfer market: Anderson Lucoqui. The 28-year-old defensive all-rounder is moving to Cottbus and thereby strengthening the club's defensive line, which has set itself ambitious goals for the coming season. The signing was announced on the last day of the transfer period and is a further step in the Lausitz team's squad rejuvenation.
Lucoqui brings a lot of experience, not least from his time in the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga. Head coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz is convinced of the qualities of the new defender and describes him as an “experienced and complete player with a lot of mentality”. Lucoqui himself is optimistic that the newly created infrastructure in Cottbus will provide positive impulses. Squad planner Maniyel Nergiz emphasizes that Lucoqui was enthusiastic about the conditions on site, which made the decision to make the move even easier.
An eventful career
Anderson Lucoqui began his career at SSV Lützenkirchen and also worked through the youth academy of well-known clubs such as 1. FC Köln, Bayer Leverkusen and Fortuna Düsseldorf. He made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga with Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 2016/2017 season. After a successful time, he moved to DSC Arminia Bielefeld in 2018, where he played in both the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. He was also able to prove himself at FSV Mainz 05 before moving on loan to F.C. Hansa Rostock and a six-month stint at Hertha BSC. Lucoqui most recently played for Eintracht Braunschweig and TSV 1860 Munich, where he was a regular player 12 times in the second half of the season.
Overall, Lucoqui can look back on an impressive record: He played 34 games in the Bundesliga, 50 in the 2nd league and 12 in the 3rd league. In these matches he scored one goal and contributed one assist. His international experience is complemented by a senior cap for Angola, which gives him additional facets to his game.
New impetus for the defense
However, Lucoqui's signing is just one of several announced reinforcements for FC Energie. In addition to him, other players should also strengthen the defense and the entire team. The club plans to make some improvements in various positions, including in goal and on the attacking wing. There are also rumors about King Manu, who is considered a hot candidate for central defense.
In this transfer period, FC Energie Cottbus is well positioned and ready to start the new season with fresh momentum. The fans can hope for interesting games and an exciting development in the team.
