Partnership celebrated: Märkischer Kreis and Elbe-Elster look ahead!

The long-term partnership between the Märkische Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Elbe-Elster district in Brandenburg celebrates another chapter of success. District Administrator Marco Voge recently visited the Brandenburg partner area, where he was received by District Administrator Christian Jaschinski in the Herzberg district administration (Elster). The aim of the visit was not only the appreciation of partnership success, but also the discussion of new projects that should further strengthen the cooperation. [LOCKALDIREKT.de reports that ...]

In a warm atmosphere, Jaschinski Marco Voge was able to thank you for the trusting cooperation during his tenure. Voge has already announced not to run again for the district office in September 2025, which also underlines the importance of this visit. The partnership that has existed since 1992 has developed from an exchange about administrative experiences to a living network in the areas of sports, culture, youth encounters and tourism.

highlights and projects of cooperation

The past few years have been peppered with numerous highlights that confirmed the partnership connection. This includes the orchestral project of the Märkische JugendSinfonie Orchestra (MJO) and the district music and art school "Brothers Graun" in 2022 as well as the successful youth camps "CAMPTOGETHER", which are planned for both 2023 and for 2025. Even during the Corona pandemic, the connection remained strong: an active exchange took place, for example, between swimming clubs, with cultural exhibitions and artist encounters to enrich cooperation.

Another item on the program was to visit the Kiebitz local recreation area, where Voge received information about the Wilena project. This aims at ecologically sustainable development of the recreation area and promotes awareness of the responsible use of resources. The partnership shows that it takes a pioneering role not only culturally, but also in ecological matters.

festivities and perspectives

During the visit, Marco Voge invited his colleague Jaschinski and a delegation from Elbe-Elster to the 50th anniversary of the Märkische Kreis. On September 6, 2025, a festive concert by the Märkische Youth Symphony Orchestra will take place in Balve, which will be associated with a historical review of five decades. These celebrations are another occasion to celebrate the success and future of the cooperation.

The importance of such partnerships becomes increasingly clear in times of challenges through population growth and technological developments. As the Bavarian State Government emphasizes, inter -municipal cooperation offers a way to bundle specialist knowledge as well as technical and personnel resources. The Märkische Kreis and Elbe-Elster impressively show how such a collaboration can bear fruit in a variety of ways.
