Shared strength: Brandenburg University Hospital and Havelland Clinics intensify collaboration!
In a groundbreaking decision, the University Hospital of Brandenburg an der Havel and the Havelland Clinics have expanded their collaboration. How Medical Journal reported, five new agreements on specialized medical service groups were reached. This comprehensive cooperation shows that both institutions have a good handle on the challenges of modern medical care.
The new contracts cover the following important specialist areas:
- Komplexe Gastroenterologie
- Komplexe Nephrologie
- Leukämie und Lymphome
- Komplexe periphere arterielle Gefäßerkrankungen
- Neurochirurgie
Plastic surgery and obesity treatment, among other things, are firmly anchored in the existing collaboration. Gabriele Wolter, the managing director of the university hospital, emphasizes that these new agreements pave the way for reliable cooperation. Thilo Spychalski, Managing Director of Havelland Kliniken, also sees these collaborations as a welcome opportunity, especially in the context of the current hospital structural reform that is taking place in the Meeting point Brandenburg is discussed.
The importance of hospital reform
The joint agreements are primarily a reaction to the new structural requirements of the Federal Ministry of Health's hospital reform. These changes demand how Solidarity can be read, an adjustment to specialization requirements and minimum quantities. The focus is on closer exchange and the division of labor provision of structurally relevant medical services.
The cooperation aims to improve patient safety and treatment quality and to offer specialized services close to home. The new structures officially come into force on June 1st and those responsible for both clinics are confident that they will successfully meet the requirements of the reform.
Annual supply figures
The dimensions of the two facilities are impressive: The Brandenburg University Hospital is a real player in the region and cares for around 26,000 inpatients and 48,000 outpatients in 16 specialist clinics every year. In contrast, there are the Havelland Clinics, which, with their locations in Nauen and Rathenow, treat around 16,500 inpatients and 37,500 outpatients in ten specialist clinics.
The Nauen clinic site has also established itself as an academic teaching hospital for the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, while the Rathenow site will in future belong to the Brandenburg Medical School. This close connection to scientific institutions underlines the importance of clinical care in the region.
In summary, it can be said that the in-depth cooperation between the two clinics not only represents an important response to the current challenges in the healthcare system, but also represents a real win-win situation for patients in the region.
