Railway closure in Havelland: This is how you can get to Wustermark from August!
The coming months will be dominated by track renovation on the important route between Berlin and Hamburg. From August 1, 2025 and until April 30, 2026, the railway line will be closed for extensive renovation work. In order to accommodate affected travelers, a rail replacement service (SEV) will be set up that will link different regions. This is reported by the MAZ.
Travelers must be prepared for longer journey times as the SEV bus routes replace the trains and some transfers may be necessary. Even if the buses are barrier-free and equipped with WiFi, bicycles are not permitted and tickets must be purchased in advance as they cannot be sold on the bus.
SEV lines in detail
In total, several SEV lines will be set up that serve numerous stations:
- SEV-Linie F: Dallgow-Döberitz – Falkensee – Bahnhof Dallgow, Abfahrt stündlich am Wochenende und zur Hauptverkehrszeit. Die Fahrzeit beträgt ca. 20 Minuten.
- SEV-Linie R: Falkensee-Seegefeld – Bahnhof Dallgow, Abfahrten alle 30 Minuten.
- SEV-Linie X4: Brieselang – Bahnhof Wustermark, Abfahrten alle 30 Minuten, ohne Zwischenstopps.
- Havelbus-Linie 649: Bahnhof/August Bebel-Straße – Bahnhof Wustermark, ebenfalls alle 30 Minuten.
The Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB) informs that all changes and information can be accessed via the website www.vbb.de/fahrinfo.
Extensive track renovation
The current renovation phase is necessary to modernize the infrastructure of the heavily frequented route between Hamburg and Berlin. Deutsche Bahn (DB) has also announced that up to 65 daily ICE connections will be offered between these two metropolises during the renovation work. The journey time could be extended by up to 45 minutes. Over 170 buses will also be in use on 26 routes to offer travelers an alternative. This information was found in the German railways.
In addition, after the renovation there will be a new direct connection RE85 from Schwerin to Berlin with a 2-hour frequency, as well as changes to the regional connections RE8, RE6, S1 and RB73. The aim is to optimize connections and offer passengers a better service.
Some lines, including the RE6 and RB55, are also affected due to parallel construction work between Neuruppin and Kremmen. Replacement buses will be provided to ease disruptions. These measures will help ensure that regional traffic is largely maintained throughout the renovation work.
For more information about the changed timetables, travelers can visit the website www.vbb.de. Additional information will also be provided in a virtual information event offered by DB and VBB.
