Indian restaurant is left out of the village festival – mayor speaks clearly!

This year's village festival is just around the corner in Paulinenaue. On July 12th, the large sports field will be the venue for a colorful program and local club activities. But not everyone involved is in a celebratory mood: the Indian restaurant “Apne 3” was excluded from participation, which is causing a lot of conversation. The businessman Jörg Wuthe criticizes this step as unfair to local entrepreneurs who have to assert themselves in the catering industry. According to maz-online.de, Mayor Arne Breder explained that there was no longer any space for “Apne 3” at the stands as all places have already been allocated for the local clubs.

The organizers of the village festival have been intensively preparing for this event for six months, which is intended to offer the clubs in the region a platform. The sports club provides the food, while the fire department provides the drinks. The farmers' wives will provide the punch and the fishing club will also be active by selling and smoking fish sandwiches. Breder also announced that next year the food and beverage distribution will be swapped between the sports club and the fire department.

A new player in Paulinenaue

Meanwhile, the restaurant “Apne 3”, which opened in August 2021, has a very special history. Gurinder Kaur and her husband came up with the idea of opening a north Indian restaurant during the Corona period. Not only is this restaurant a new addition to Paulinenaue, but it also has the charm of a historic inn, founded in 1886 and with extensive stories in its past.

The restaurant offers its guests a colorful atmosphere that is typical of North Indian gastronomy. As paulinenaue.info reports, the dishes are less spicy and the prices are moderate, which makes it particularly attractive to a wide audience. “Apne 3” can accommodate up to 100 guests, making it ideal for larger celebrations. Various cocktails and takeaway food are also on the menu.

The celebration in the community

The village festival begins at 2 p.m. with a cultural contribution from the elementary school and is accompanied by a musical performance by a live band in the late evening hours. For the little ones there is a supporting program with a bouncy castle and information on the topic of “first aid”. The festival will definitely offer a high level of entertainment value, even if “Apne 3” is not there.

The decision to exclude the restaurant from the festival has left Karam Singh, the director of 'Apne 3', feeling regretful. He emphasizes how important the income from such events is for the survival of his business. This situation once again shows how micro-entrepreneurs in rural communities have to struggle to survive in the restaurant industry.

The discussion about the stands at the festival raises questions about support for local entrepreneurs. While the clubs and organizations have the opportunity to present themselves, the contribution of a new inn owner remains unrealized. The organizers of the festival have nevertheless shown a good knack for putting together a varied and inviting event.
