Bötzow is blossoming: long-time residents are discovering their new home!
In a quiet part of Brandenburg, in the village-like Bötzow, Beate Sellmeyer (64) and Frithjof Scholz (81) moved their center of life from Berlin to here three months ago. According to a report by the maz-online.de The small town with around 3,300 inhabitants is ideal for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. The mayor Mandy Krenz emphasizes that more and more people are moving to Bötzow because of the peace and quiet, with Sellmeyer and Scholz being the oldest residents of the new Am Graben settlement, which is mainly inhabited by young families.
While the two people from Cologne are settling into their new surroundings, there are some interesting developments in the surrounding area. The Heaven Pagoda in Hohen Neuendorf, which was built in 2002 and cost around 6.5 million euros, is facing a major upheaval. The Illustrated World reports that the site was recently sold and a demolition of the impressive architecture is planned to make way for the construction of 245 apartments by 2025. There is a stylish Chinese restaurant inside the pagoda, and many hikers visited the pagoda, especially after a day of relaxation after rain cooled the area.
Urban development and challenges
The developments in Hohen Neuendorf are in the context of the comprehensive urban development strategy in Brandenburg, which focuses on quality of life and sustainable growth. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and State Planning ( mil.brandenburg.de ), the strategy aims to make cities more livable and future-proof. This includes working in partnership with various actors to address current challenges and needs in urban development.
Another interesting topic concerns the urban problems in Oranienburg, where unsightly stickers from Berlin football clubs are causing a stir. These problems cost the city five figures each year as the city government struggles to permanently remove the stickers. Despite the missions, the stickers continue to appear, disrupting the everyday lives of city residents.
Health care and social aspects
A lot is also happening in healthcare: those affected by sexual violence can now receive trustworthy examinations and treatment at the Oberhavel Clinic without having to involve the police. This is part of a network of 13 hospitals in Brandenburg that provide confidential care.
Developments in the region show how important it is to take care of both the structural and social infrastructure. The mix of natural recreation, urban living and social offerings not only makes the region attractive for newcomers, but can also help to promote coexistence in Bötzow and the surrounding area.
