Oberhavel is investing 33 million euros in schools and sports facilities!

The Oberhavel district is investing heavily in the future - over 33 million euros are being invested in improving and expanding the school infrastructure at three locations. This is an important initiative to promote education in the region, which was launched by District Administrator Alexander Tönnies and Head of Education Holger Mittelstädt. Loud maz-online.de The investments are distributed between the Frieda-Glücksmann-Oberschule in Lehnitz, the Alexander-Puschkin-Gymnasium in Hennigsdorf and the Torhorst-Gesamtschule in Oranienburg.

The region expects a comprehensive upgrade with the new building at the Frieda-Glücksmann-Oberschule. The school started in 2020 with just 69 students and is now being expanded into a three to four-class educational institution. A three-storey new building is being built with almost 19 million euros, which will not only have a cafeteria, auditorium and kitchen, but also scientific rooms and teachers' rooms. A redesign of the schoolyard is also planned by the middle of next year.

New sports hall and cafeteria for the students

A lot is also happening at the Torhorst comprehensive school: a new three-field sports hall with 1200 square meters will significantly enrich the sporting activities. The work on the hall, which is estimated at around 12 million euros, also includes the construction of sanitary and changing rooms as well as technical rooms. The students can look forward to a new modular building with additional classrooms that will be built during the summer holidays.

The Alexander Pushkin High School, on the other hand, is celebrating its 100th birthday next year and also has big plans for it. The conversion of the Heine Hall into a cafeteria is being implemented with a budget of around 3 million euros, of which 1.6 million euros come from a municipal investment program. With over 130 seats and a terrace, the new cafeteria is a real asset for the school community.

Financing and future prospects

The structural changes and new buildings not only show the district's commitment to education, but also the great importance that schools have for community development. Such investments are a prerequisite for future-oriented education and are probably also necessary in order to do justice to the increasing number of students.

The overall package reflects how important it is to support educational institutions. It is therefore to be hoped that these initiatives will find similar imitations in other regions. After all, education is the key to future success and social integration - there is really something to be said!
