Robbery at a gas station in Altdöbern: Perpetrators fled with cash!
A raid on the gas station on Senftenberger Strasse in Altdöbern caused a stir on Monday evening. At around 6:30 p.m., two masked strangers entered the sales room and threatened the employee. The perpetrators left the area immediately with cash in their pockets, but the police were unable to find any trace of the robbers despite immediately launching a search. Investigations are now underway and it has been ensured that no one was injured in this incident. This reports Niederlausitz Current.
Gas station robberies are a topic that worries many. Across Germany, the number of robberies at gas stations fell to 579 in 2020, compared to 587 in 2019. This is shown by an analysis of the crime statistics to which the Central Association of the Gas Station Industry refers. Nevertheless, there are large regional differences. Gas stations in metropolitan areas are particularly at risk, so Berlin remains the frontrunner with a robbery risk of 20%. In significantly safer federal states such as Bavaria or Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, however, the risk is less than 2%. Once again, the example of Altdöbern shows that such attacks can also occur in more rural regions, as the report shows ZTG Germany is to be read.
Police operations and declines in crime
After the incident in Altdöbern, the police in other regions also spent some time on operations this Monday. In Großräschen, a meadow caught fire around 2:30 p.m. while forestry work was taking place on Chransdorfer Straße. Fortunately, the fire was quickly brought under control and there was only minor damage to property with no injuries. A not too serious traffic accident was also reported on Ernst-Thälmann-Straße in Senftenberg, in which a VOLVO collided with a VW car.
In another case, there was an incident in Lauchhammer in which an e-scooter driver was stopped on Berliner Straße on Tuesday morning. A drug test came back positive for amphetamines, which led to a blood sample being taken in the hospital. The possibility that such incidents in the region are linked to attacks cannot be dismissed.
With this information out Swabian, it becomes clear that the security situation surrounding gas station robberies depends on many factors. Even though the decline in fuel fraud shows a positive trend in 2020, concerns about security remain present in these businesses.
