Future Academy Lausitz: Cheeky voices asked about the energy transition!
Lübbenau, Deutschland - A special event for the young generation recently took place in Lausitz when the Days in Lübbenau. With 27 participants between the ages of 18 and 27 from Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony, the event was well attended. The focus of the academy was on pressing questions about the energy transition and the future scenarios for the region.
The participants deal with central topics: How can the coal phase -out work without entire regions that crash economically? To what extent can ecological transformation, economic stability and social justice be reconciled? Through workshops, lectures and a business game, the young people developed concrete answers and experiences.
practical insights into the region
Several excursions were also carried out as part of the academy. So the group was able to visit the Welzow-Süd open-cast mine, the Solarpark Schipkau and visit the construction site of a height wind wheel . Here they were able to experience up close how the structural change looks in practice. The goal of the academy was not only getting to know new technologies, but also an examination of the possible consequences of change in the region.
The fact that a youth survey of the Revierlende project, supported by the DGB, showed before the future academy that over 1,700 young people surveyed felt little in the structural change process. Around 90 percent were dissatisfied with their information situation. Whether they want to stay in Lusatia or not was also an issue: more than a third approved to stay in the region, while almost 40 percent are undecided.
framework conditions of the energy transition
In the context of the energy transition, the German printing industry as a pioneer in sustainable media production and energy efficiency. Nevertheless, there are also critical voices: the CO2 certificates and coal power as a bridge technology have challenges. In addition, the introduction of new technologies is often under the pressure of high costs, for example due to the EEG surcharge, which is around 25 billion euros annually.
The Federal Government has been determined as part of the coal exit law in order to implement the coal exit by 2038. Lignite regions are to be supported with up to 40 billion euros in order to promote structural change. Innovation programs and the possibility of promoting ideas competitions also play an important role here.
But the challenges are great. Millions of households in Germany are fighting with increasing energy costs. The term “power poverty” describes the precarious situation of many households that can no longer pay their electricity invoices. In view of the increasing energy costs by 42 percent in the past 15 years, it is hardly surprising that support for the energy transition is under pressure.
In conclusion, it remains to be stated that the future of Lausitz and the entire country depends on the answers of the young generation to the challenges of the energy transition. It remains exciting how the region will develop and which impulses will end up with future academies like this.Details | |
