DRK initiates the project to relieve emergency services and families

Oder-Spree, Deutschland - On July 22, 2025, an important event of the German Red Cross (DRK) took place, which was aimed specifically at emergency services with family obligations. Volunteers from various communities, including welfare and social work, readiness, and the water guard were invited. The participants traveled from various district associations, including Spandau, Wedding/Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin Schöneberg-Wilmersdorf, Berlin Center and Märkisch-Oder-Havel-Spree. This variety of emergency services testifies to the high interest in the support and relief that the event promised.

As part of the event, a theoretical input on the current situation was presented, followed by creative workshop rounds in the World Café format. The aim was to develop three concrete ideas for relatives in larger damage. The organizers strive to facilitate the decision between their commitment and family obligations or at least take them off.

Development of new approaches

"With these new approaches we want to not only support the emergency services, but also promote an open exchange between the different communities," said a spokesman for the DRK. The results of the event are to be further developed in a working group in order to be able to offer long -term solutions. The entire project is part of a larger project by the Berlin DRK state association, which is dedicated to the needs of vulnerable groups of people. This is particularly relevant because research results show an increasing number of older and needy people.

The training was funded by the GlücksStraale and offers the participants the opportunity to take part in further training free of charge under the topic of "Storage techniques and illnesses in old age". This continuous training is important in order to meet the challenges in the crisis management.

crisis management in the DRK

Another essential aspect of the event was the connection to the DRK crisis management regulation. This regulates the operating conditions and does not deal with everyday missions in the emergency services or medical service. According to the [Roter Kreis] (https://roter-kreis.de/krisenmanagement regulation), the regulation includes defined events such as crises, disasters and conflicts.

  • chapter 1: scope
  • chapter 2: compliance
  • chapter 3: independence - the DRK has priority before private law.
  • chapter 4: critical infrastructure - all activities of the DRK should be regarded as such.
  • Chapter 6: Communication - Effective internal and external communication is necessary for crisis management.

These regulations are crucial in order to offer the emergency services the necessary legal and structured basis. Nevertheless, there are indications of possible outdated versions and missing regulations in individual state associations in terms of the topicality of the regulation.

Overall, the event of the DRK shows that the organization has a good hand to face the challenges of today. The close cooperation and the exchange between different groups are necessary in order not only to be able to react to acute situations, but also to develop forward -looking measures in the field of relatives.
