Come on! Free HPV vaccination day in Potsdam on July 15th
Next Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a special day of action will take place in the Potsdam health department under the motto "Come vaccinated". The event, which takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Berliner Straße 150 A, Haus P, 14467 Potsdam, aims to raise awareness of HPV vaccination and to provide the population a free vaccination. All age groups are invited to get on site without prior notice and to find out about the importance of vaccination.
dr. Kristina Böhm, the person responsible for the vaccination campaign, emphasizes that the HPV vaccination not only has a positive impact on health, but can also make a decisive contribution to preventing life-threatening diseases. "Every vaccination is a step in the right direction," she explains. Especially for children from the age of 10, the experts recommend the HPV vaccination to minimize later health risks, such as cervix or penis cancer. Dr. Judith Freytag supports this statement and is reminiscent of the recommendations of the constant vaccination commission (STIKO) in this context.
comprehensive offer for all
The vaccination campaign is not only aimed at insured, but also to non -insured persons who have the opportunity to check their vaccination status and have the lack of vaccinations catch up. The STIKO vaccines offered are available in sufficient quantities so that everyone interested can be helped. If you have your vaccination pass or the health insurance card, you should bring it to ensure a smooth process.
The importance of the HPV vaccination is obvious: According to the Robert Koch-Institut (rki) until 2022 were over 500 million Doses administered. In Germany, more than 10 million HPV vaccinations took place in 2014 to 2024. The RKI emphasizes that vaccination is considered to be very safe and has only been reported in individual cases of persistent or serious side effects.
security reviews and untrue rumors
The World Health Organization (WHO) has been conducting regular safety ratings for HPV vaccination since 2007 and concludes that the risk of health problems due to vaccination is extremely low. Despite some reports on undesirable effects, such as dizziness or local reactions at the puncture site, there is no proven causal connection between the HPV vaccination and serious diseases such as CRPs or Pots. Wrong claims that are distributed on social media about possible effects of vaccination, such as infertility, are unfounded and should be critically questioned.
With the vaccination campaign on July 15, the Potsdam Health Office offers the citizens an excellent opportunity to actively do something for their health and to find out about the advantages of HPV vaccination. Further details about the event can be read on the website www.potsdam.de/impfftag
