Queer games in Lindow: Sport and Diversity for everyone from June 27th to 29th!
Lindow, Brandenburg, Deutschland - The queer games celebrate their fifth edition from June 27th to 29th in the sports and education center in Brandenburg and invite the LGBTQI community to a weekend full of sport and community. This inclusive recreational sport event, such as RBB24, offers a friendly atmosphere, in the joy of movement and the exchange among the participants.
With over 300 registrations, the event is already fully booked, and the organization team, led by Martina Knoke, plans to make more participants in the future. Six carrier associations, including the change of sides of Berlin and the 1st GBC Berlin, present more than 30 different sports. Here the participants can try out their skills in Flag football, cheerleading or even water ballet under the guidance of trainers:
a colorful supporting program
But not only sport is on the program: On Friday evening, the welcome party will be celebrated with a champagne reception. Saturday promises a lot of conviviality with a grill buffet and an exuberant party. The “Team Olympiad” will be on the agenda on Sunday, in which teams of five can test their sporting skills in four disciplines. For the little guests there is the "queer game game meadow" with bouncy castle and schnitzel hunt, which will certainly provide radiant faces.
A total of 240 beds are available in the accommodations. Some participants camp or travel as day guests. The continuing popularity of this event shows how important the queer games are for the community, not only as a sporting activity, but also as a space for mutual exchange and support.
a step in the right direction
But the queer games are more than just a sporting event. According to [ISPO] (https://www.ispo.com/people/der-kampf-fuer-lgbtq-recht- und-inclusion-in-sport), people of the LGBTQ+ community are often confronted with discrimination in everyday life and sometimes even see legal challenges, because in around 69 countries homosexuality is legally prohibited. The importance of such events is not only evident in the positive atmosphere, but also in the courage to give the participants during their sporting activities. Wherever acceptance is often lacking in society, the queer games make a valuable contribution to visibility and inclusion.
The challenge of committing to the LGBTQ+ community remains a sensitive topic for many athletes: for many athletes. The loss of sponsors or even the refusal of participation in important competitions are serious risks. The queer games not only offer a place of cooperation, but also a platform for visibility and support - completely under the motto "There is space for everyone".
More information about the queer games can be found on the official website queerspiele-berlin.de. These events are a step in the right direction to strengthen the voices of the LGBTQI community and to promote awareness of diversity and inclusion in sport.
