CSD Bad Belzig 2025: Parade for tolerance and diversity on July 12th!

The second Christopher Street Day (CSD) will take place in Bad Belzig on July 12, 2025. In doing so, the city is sending a clear signal for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. At a time when discrimination and prejudice unfortunately still exist, the organizers call for us to stand up together for respect and diversity. That's what they report MAZ about the planned activities and the commitment of the organizers.

The parade begins at 1 p.m. at Fläming train station and goes to the old town. The message of the CSD Bad Belzig points out that participants can gather at the train station at 12:30 p.m. The parade will be accompanied musically by various artists, including the gospel choir Bad Belzig, Maren Knütter and DJane Crab Apple. A special highlight is the subsequent tolerance festival on the market square, which will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Diversity and inclusion

The organization of the CSD is supported by a wide range of groups, including Fläming für Alle, the ZEGG Bildungszentrum gGmbH and the Evangelical Church Community of Bad Belzig. Together they are committed to strengthening the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and non-binary people and fighting against discrimination. As noted on the CSD Bad Belzig website, visitors to the market square can attend speeches from local organizations as well as information stands.

Particular attention is paid to creating a non-discriminatory, inclusive atmosphere. An awareness team will be on duty wearing pink vests and will offer support if necessary. In fact, organizers have stressed that they do not expect any major backlash, despite there being reports in advance of posters being scrapped. Gregor Leich from the Bad Belzig public order office also confirms that the authorities are not aware of any simultaneous counter-events.

Historical roots of the CSD

Christopher Street Day has its roots in the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York, considered a turning point for the LGBTQ+ emancipation movement. As the bpb Reportedly, this uprising resulted from decades of oppression and discrimination. The first CSD parade in Germany took place in Berlin in 1979, and thousands of people in many cities now celebrate this day as a day of celebration, remembrance and demonstration.

In Bad Belzig, the CSD is not only celebrated as a festival, but also used as a platform to remember the rights we have fought for and to continue to fight for equality. The current event is part of a long tradition of creating visibility and standing up for the rights of all people.

So be there when the colors of diversity parade through Bad Belzig on July 12th and a sign of respect and acceptance is set. Together we can make the world a little more colorful!
