Replacement transport RE7: Criticism of bus plans for commuters and students!

Deutsche Bahn has responded to the complaints regarding the rail replacement service (SEV) for the Regional Express 7 (RE7). From July 4th to August 22nd, 2025, this replacement service will be set up to compensate for the restrictions caused by construction work. The city of Beelitz, the Brück district administration and the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB) were particularly critical of the originally planned measures. Loud maz-online.de The SEV will initially be carried out from July 7th, 6 a.m. to July 14th, 2:40 a.m. every one hour between Borkheide and Potsdam-Griebnitzsee.

There are special changes to the departure times: The bus should now run from Potsdam-Griebnitzsee towards Borkheide from minute 18, instead of only from minute 50 as previously planned. Peak times are also taken into account by using two articulated buses per departure. After July 14th to August 22nd, the one-hour frequency will remain in place, with the departure time from Potsdam-Griebnitzsee continuing to be from minute 18. Here, too, two articulated buses are planned during peak hours.

Around the Seddin train station

In addition to the cuts in RE7, Seddiner train station will be closed for track work from Friday evening, 9.30 p.m. These construction sites affect the trains between Dessau and Berlin Ostkreuz, which leads to further restrictions in rail operations. Loud rbb24.de The Beelitz-Heilstätten, Seddin, Michendorf, Wilhelmshorst and Potsdam-Rehbrücke train stations will not be served until August 22nd. One bus per hour will serve all affected stations - the total journey time is around one hour.

The transfer time in Borkheide for travelers heading to Dessau was set at 40 minutes. Beelitz's mayor, Bernhard Knuth, criticized the replacement concept as inadequate and, supported by Regiobus and the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, is calling for improvements. The VBB is examining these demands, but changes are not expected immediately.

Communication problems and demands for improvements

The city of Beelitz and the VBB know about the concerns of commuters and students. The planning and communication between those involved, as district director Mathias Ryll criticized, did not go optimally from the residents' perspective. Those affected can find information about the current situation on the website bahn.de aktuell, which provides an overview of train cancellations and route interruptions.

The track work at Seddiner station is scheduled to be completed by August 22nd, but it remains unclear whether the RE7 trains will be able to run through again afterwards. In any case, it is desirable that the needs of commuters are not lost sight of, because every additional bus in the SEV and every improvement in departure times brings more mobility to the region.
