Who will be the new city leader? Jüterbog votes on Sunday!
In the small town of Jüterbog, known for its historic old town and around 13,000 inhabitants, an important election is just around the corner. After the resignation of the previous mayor Arne Raue, who will be active in the Bundestag in the future, the citizens are looking for a new city leader. On Sunday, June 29th, four independent candidates will run for the elections. Such a race is not an everyday occurrence in the city and arouses great interest among voters.
The applicants for the mayor's office come from different backgrounds and bring a wide range of experiences. For example, there is the 38-year-oldSabrina Dimde, which is running for the Jüterbog Citizens' Alliance (BBJ) and the SPD as a list association. As an experienced administrative officer who works in the Federal Ministry of Construction, she can look back on 16 years of professional experience. Her slogan “Mayor of here, for here and for everyone” suggests a strong connection to the city.
Another candidate is the 42-year-oldSebastian Geess, who enters the race as an individual candidate. He is an officer and consultant for logistical management in the operational command of the Bundeswehr. Its goals are to create security for children and dignity for seniors - a concern that meets with open ears from many citizens.
Experienced heads for Jüterbog
Christiane Lindner-Klopsch, 53 years old, is also an individual applicant and is a lawyer in the city administration. She heads the law and order office and is the first deputy mayor. With the slogan “The right one for Jüterbog” she wants to use the power of the community to develop solutions to the city’s challenges.
Finally there isTilman Weber, born in 1982, who made a name for himself as a project manager in the Federal Ministry of Finance. His motto “Bock auf Jüterbog” shows his enthusiasm for the city. As someone with some physical limitations, he has experience in finding creative solutions and would like to work for citizen-oriented administration.
The outgoing mayor Raue, who made history as the first full-time AfD mayor in Brandenburg, had sparked some controversy in the past. He is leaving the city after 14 years to run for the AfD in the state parliament, leaving the city in a tense political situation. His connection to the AfD and some of his statements are viewed critically by various political actors, which divides the image that voters have of him. RBB24 reports that the AfD is leaving the field in Teltow-Fläming II to Raue and hopes that he will take the direct mandate from the SPD.
Challenges for future city management
The new city leadership will not only be required to deal with political tensions, but also to address significant challenges. A central issue is medical care in Jüterbog, which suffers from a lack of specialists, especially pediatricians. It will be exciting to see how the new candidates will tackle these problems; after all, solutions must be found to support the city in both its social and medical structure.
The election on June 29th is eagerly awaited and could represent a turning point for the city of Jüterbog. The upcoming decisions are important not only for the candidates, but also for the entire community. A unified call for voter registration could help citizens make a strong statement about their future.
The excitement next weekend could hardly be greater. Don't miss the opportunity to raise your voice for the future of Jüterbog!
